sin is the cut of a knife. The fear in a scream. The hollowness of an empty stomach. The pretentiousness of pride, the clutch of cancer, the malice of murder. It’s the clamor of war, the helplessness of divorce. Sin is an epidemic called AIDS. It’s the blank stare in the face of the homeless.
Sin is the dollar bill in the pocket of the abortion doctor. The despair of poverty. The fear of the past, present and future. It’s the sob of a little girl, alone in her bedroom nursing a bruised cheek, tears staining her lace-trimmed pillow because her drunken daddy slapped her just hours before.
Sin is the federal penitentiary, and arguing, lying, and cheating. It’s the deceitful of earthly security. Its stealing and insanity, heresy, prejudice, and suicide. Sin is the occult, New Age deceit, pagan religion, and religious tradition. Its demon possession and sirens and hospitals. It’s the silence of death, the cold reality of a funeral and the necessity of an eternal hell.
Sin is the whispering of friends. It’s the drive that fuels sexual perversions, homosexuality, rape and incest. It’s the bondage of alcohol and drug addiction. It’s everything cruel and painful. It’s every curse, blight and plague known in human history.
And to satisfy sins ceaseless appetite, men and women sell their souls. Many will spend an eternity in hell trying to pay the price for something they will never be able to afford.
